Elche

Eder Sarabia's team finally got their first win of 2026 just before the March international break, beating local rivals Mallorca 2-1 in a nervy game that was decided by a late missed penalty by the visitors. That result lifted them out of the relegation zone at the expense of the islanders, but a 0-1 defeat at Rayo Vallecano sent them right back down.

With momentum and survival on their side, Elche responded by winning three games in a row. A 1-0 home win over Valencia was followed by a dramatic 3-2 comeback against a largely reserve Atlético, followed by their first away win of the season at Oviedo. Although the gap to the relegation zone remains small, the run is encouraging indeed.

Since then, results have been mixed. A narrow 1-3 defeat at Celta was followed by a difficult 1-1 draw at home to Alaves. In their final match, they put up a good fight against Betis, despite Leo Petros' red card early in the second half, although they still lost 1-2. With 39 points, level with Levante and Mallorca, Elche are just a point above the relegation zone thanks to the tie-breakers, but the situation remains precarious.

Getafe

Getafe have already secured a stress-free end to the season after years of battling relegation. José Bordalas' side won five of their last seven games before the international break, then added two more in games against Athletic Bilbao (2-0) and Real Sociedad (1-0) upon their return. The defeat at Levante ended their run, but the visitors remain focused.

The results put Getafe within touching distance of qualifying for the European Championship. Bordalas insisted the team deserved the accolade, although questions remain over his own future and the futures of several key players. After winning in San Sebastian, the Azuloni went three games without scoring a goal before drawing with Mallorca.

The visitors arrived at the Coliseum desperate for points in their own fight for survival. Getafe took advantage of defensive errors in the first half, with Martin Satriano scoring twice. Said Romero scored the third goal from a set piece, but Mallorca pulled one back late in the match. The 3-1 win moved Bordalas' team two points closer to Celta and kept their European hopes alive.

Elche vs Getafe: Prediction

Elche should win their final home game of the season, although a win alone won't guarantee safety, with a trip to Girona still to come. Getafe's motivation to make the top six is less certain after their recent success, but any mistakes will be punished. Given what's at stake for the hosts, Elche are expected to take the three points they need.
