The final match of the 14th round of the German Bundesliga will be held in Bremen, where the local Werder will host Stuttgart. The two teams may boast different squads and financial resources, but they have one thing in common: both are playing below their potential. Stuttgart is in seventh place, while Werder Bremen is in 12th. The southern team has the potential to challenge not only for a place in the top four, but perhaps even for the title. Meanwhile, their northern counterparts need to fight harder for European qualification. To be fair, neither team has lived up to pre-season expectations so far.

There is no clear favorite here, which makes sense. Stuttgart is playing a little better, but not convincingly enough to guarantee victory. Werder Bremen is performing solidly at home, although they have disappointed their fans on more than one occasion. Theoretically, this game could end in a draw, and that would not surprise anyone.

Werder Bremen

Werder Bremen are winless in their last three matches, and in their last five games they have only managed one win (along with two losses and two draws). They have not even been able to beat the worst team in the Bundesliga, drawing 1-1 with Mainz. The team clearly lacks consistency. Good unbeaten runs are followed by winless periods. This has been a trend for Werder over the years. Players and coaches come and go, but the team's style and results remain largely unchanged. Pre-season predictions often promise Werder to challenge for European competition, but the Bremen club usually spends most of the campaign in mid-table - safely above the relegation zone but far from continental contention. It's a reality that everyone, including the fans, has become accustomed to.

Stuttgart

Stuttgart is not doing too well either. Sebastian Hoeness' team is constantly expected to do something extraordinary - at the very least, a title challenge or a Champions League spot. In fact, after a brief surge, they have reached a predictable decline. It's not that Stuttgart are playing badly, but with their talent pool they should aim for more than seventh place in the Bundesliga. The picture is a bit brighter in the Europa League, where they continue to win and have climbed to ninth place, just three points behind leaders Lyon. However, the level of competition in the tournament is not always the highest. Their 4-1 win over Maccabi Tel Aviv hardly defines their true strength. Interestingly, bookmakers do not consider them favorites to win the Europa League (they are only eighth in the odds).

In 2025, Stuttgart has away matches against Werder Bremen and a home match against Hoffenheim. If Sebastian Hoeness' team really want to compete for Champions League qualification, winning both matches would be ideal.

Werder Bremen - Stuttgart: Author's Prediction

Both teams have shown vulnerability in defense this season, but they have also been successful in attack. With no clear favorite and with the potential for any outcome, I would advise betting on more than 3 goals in total.
