Lecce
Just a week after Lecce ended a five-match losing streak, the team suffered another defeat last Saturday, losing 2-1 to Juventus in Turin. Although captain Federico Baschirotto scored again, netting his second goal in a few days, the Salento side failed to complete a comeback and ultimately faced a long journey home empty-handed. Over the last seven days of play, Lecce has garnered only a single point—thanks to Baschirotto's goal in a recent 1-1 draw with Venezia—and currently sits perilously close to the relegation zone.
In the match against Juventus, Marco Giampaolo fielded five defenders, but a goal conceded in the second minute derailed all plans. Then, in the 11th minute, left center-back Jean sustained an injury (who turns out will be out for six months - his season is over), and the team’s top scorer Krstović was so anxious that the coach had to substitute him. After the match with Juventus, Giampaolo admitted he might revert to the five-defender setup: "There are games where I can repeat this. I had planned this game this way for a while; there are others where we can maintain this formation."
"Como? We are holding on to this league and don't want to give up. We are alive," noted Baschirotto.
However, words need to be backed up by actions. The Giallorossi failed to score in five of their last seven home matches. If they encounter another setback this weekend, it would mark ten winless games in the league.
TuttoSport notes that scouts from Juventus, Inter, and Napoli will be present at the match against Como, all keeping an eye on one player—Krstović, who has already been dubbed the "new Vučinić." Lecce is asking for no less than 25 million, and negotiations could revolve around a bid of 20 million plus bonuses, but it will all depend on the final league table. Relegation to Serie B would significantly diminish the negotiating power of the Giallorossi and hence, the price for the Montenegrin.
Como
Having defeated Torino (1-0), Como has extended their unbeaten run to four consecutive matches—with January signing Anastasius Douvikas scoring the only goal just before halftime. The Greek striker has become one of several acquisitions made by the ambitious Lombardy club mid-season—a luxury unavailable to most of their relegation rivals—and now the team is 12 points clear of the drop zone. Como sits much closer to the finish in the upper half of the league table and can enhance their chances for an unexpected top-ten finish by clinching three consecutive Serie A wins—the last time they achieved this feat was back in 1952.
The youngest player to score at least five goals and provide five assists this season, Nico Pas, is set to recover from a calf issue that saw him on the bench during the Torino match. He hasn’t scored in two months, and fans are expecting him to deliver results. Recently, Francesco Totti advised Roma's bosses to sign the lad. However, Pas seems to have already struck a deal with Inter...

Lecce vs Como: Author's Prediction
Just imagine how desperate Giampaolo must be, having changed his 4-3-3 system for the first time this season and stated that he would be ready to do it again. Lecce can't win in nine consecutive matches and has found itself just a step away from the relegation zone. The team is desperately in need of three points before facing Atalanta and Napoli.
