Getafe

Everything indicates that the upcoming match will be the last for José Bordalas at the helm of the "azullones". The legend of the Madrid suburbs has performed another small miracle, saving the team from relegation, despite limited resources. With one matchday left in the season, Getafe are seventh in the table, which leads to the Conference League.

Publicly, Bordalas insists that European qualification rewards the players' efforts. However, doubts remain about whether the club really wants to play in the Conference League. Recently, the team has seemed to try to drop points without sinking into the relegation battle, although their opponents have ignored every mistake.

Before and after the international break, Getafe scored strategic victories: a lucky 2-1 win over Espanyol and a convincing 2-0 home win over Athletic. The points should have ensured safety, but the battle for a place in the bottom half of the season remains tight. Three more points were secured with a 1-0 win over Real Sociedad without a single shot on target.

The goal was followed by two consecutive home defeats, both 0-2 to Barcelona and Rayo Vallecano. A goalless draw in Oviedo followed, followed by a comfortable draw against Mallorca. Last weekend, they suffered an expected defeat in Elche, but European hopes remain alive. The final match offers a chance to lose without consequences, although their opponents can still beat them.

Osasuna

In Pamplona, European dreams gave way to fears of relegation. With one game left in the season, Osasuna are among the teams fighting for survival. Survival looks likely, but coach Alessio Lishi could still be held accountable for his late-season performance.

The Rojillos started the year on a six-match unbeaten run, capped by a famous 2-1 home win over Real Madrid. Spring brought a sharp decline. March and April brought narrow home wins over Girona and Sevilla, but since then four consecutive defeats have put the club on the brink.

The decline began with a 2-1 home defeat to Barcelona. The equaliser came against Atlético Madrid, despite clear-cut chances. A 3-2 defeat at Levante saw a two-goal lead squandered and goalkeeper Sergio Herrera given a bizarre red card. Another 2-1 home defeat to Espanyol last week put survival in doubt.

Osasuna remain the clear favourites to avoid relegation. A point away from Getafe will probably be enough, although a defeat could still work if results elsewhere turn out favourably. In the worst case scenario, they will only be relegated if they lose, while Mallorca and Girona will win.

Getafe vs Osasuna: Author's prediction

Osasuna haven't won at Getafe for years; their last success there dates back to March 2008. In their twelve subsequent visits, the hosts have won eight and drawn four. Pamplona may find it difficult to break this streak, but a win is not necessary. One point will be enough. Whether Getafe even need the points remains to be seen when the parallel results unfold. My prediction: one of the two results Osasuna need.
