Getafe
The fans of "Azulones" have been waiting for their first victory of the season for a month and a half, until the 8th round of the new championship. Several times, José Bordalás’ team came close to securing three points, but due to poor finishing, they were only satisfied with draws. This refers to home matches against "Real Sociedad" (0:0) and "Leganes" (1:1). Interestingly, their first game at the "Coliseum" against "Rayo Vallecano" also ended in a goalless draw, a textbook example of 0:0 without any chances or hints of goals.
Overall, the season started for "Getafe" with a surprising draw in Bilbao (1:1), but in the following three away matches, the "Azulones" suffered three consecutive narrow defeats. In the matches against "Sevilla" and "Barcelona", both lost 0:1, things could have turned out differently. Especially in Barcelona, where Borja Mayoral somehow failed to equalize late in stoppage time. However, the much-anticipated victory came in the previous round as they confidently defeated "Alaves" 2:0. At the end of the first half, Mauro Arambarri scored the winning goal from a free-kick, and shortly after halftime, Luis Milla converted a penalty, securing the victory for "Getafe". They even had great chances to extend their lead with Diego Rico and newcomer Álvaro Rodríguez, but both times, stunning saves by Antonio Sivera denied them.
Osasuna
Meanwhile, the Pamplonans have pleasantly surprised their fans at the start of the season. Not always with quality performances, but through excellent results. After eight matches, Vicente Moreno's team has already secured four victories and currently sits in 5th-7th place in the La Liga table, tied with "Atletico" and another surprise team, "Mallorca", led by their former coach Jagoba Arrasate. If only the "Rojillos" hadn't slept through the first half of their opening home game against "Leganes", they could be level on points with "Atletico", currently in fourth place.
Osasuna has only won at home in "El Sadar". They initially managed to edge out the aforementioned "Mallorca" (1:0), then won 3:2 against "Celta" and 2:1 against "Las Palmas", who are now at the bottom of the table with only three points and no victories. Last weekend, Vicente Moreno's team pulled off a real sensation by stopping the winning run of league leaders "Barcelona" under Hansi Flick with a 4:2 victory.
The match against the Catalans was superb for the "Rojillos"; however, Sergio Herrera caused fans some anxiety early in the second half with a strange own goal as he hurried to reinstate play. Having trimmed the deficit, "Blaugranas" piled on the pressure, but Herrera quickly redeemed himself for the mistake. Budimir earned and converted a penalty, and Abel Bretonese later extended the host's lead to three goals. In the first half, Bryan Zaragoza reminded everyone why his transfer to "Bayern Munich" was possible – with blazing speed, brilliant technique, and great vision. In the 18th minute, the winger assisted Ante Budimir who opened the scoring, and later netted himself, elegantly dribbling past Iñaki Peña and rolling the ball into an empty net.
Getafe vs. Osasuna: Author’s Prediction
José Bordalás, who has long lamented the lack of players, can finally count on all the squad members listed for the season. However, significant changes in the lineup are not expected, although Borja Mayoral might be ready to start from the first minute. Even so, "Getafe" will still be regarded as the favorite in the upcoming clash. "Osasuna" does excel at home, but their away matches have proven challenging - a disheartening 0:4 loss to "Girona", 1:3 to "Rayo Vallecano", and a fortunate draw against a currently troubled "Valencia". Moreover, "Rojillos" have not won at the "Coliseum" since March 2008, losing eight of the eleven meetings since then. The last four matches have all ended with victories for "Getafe". Of course, one cannot be 100% confident in a win for the hosts, but I dare to take the risk.
