Solana Sierra Charts Her Path in Australian Open Qualifying
The 20-year-old tennis player, currently ranked 163rd in the WTA, is set to face Croatian Lucija Ciric Bagaric (215th), who is also of the same age.
If she wins, Sierra could potentially meet the top seed in the qualifying round, American Alycia Parks, ranked 78th in the world, who recently reached the semifinals in Auckland. Parks will face Swedish player Mirjam Bjorklund (766th) in the opening round.
The likely final hurdle would be against the winner from the lower bracket, which includes Slovak Viktoria Hruncakova (168th), Austrian Sinja Kraus (211th), Filipino Alexandra Eala (147th), and Croatian Jana Fett (136th).
It’s noteworthy that Solana Sierra made her Grand Slam debut at the 2024 US Open, where she successfully navigated through three qualifying rounds before falling to German Tatjana Maria in the first round.
